Straight answers on cooling your home with outdoor air, from the people who build CentricAir and QA-Deluxe fans. Start with the basics or jump to your question.
A whole house fan is a ceiling mounted exhaust fan that cools your home by pulling cool outdoor air in through open windows and pushing hot indoor air out through the attic. You run it in the evening, overnight and early morning, when it is cooler outside than in, and it uses a fraction of the electricity of central air.
